Uttara Campus

Uttara is a rapidly developing, modern, family friendly suburban area which attracts many young professionals and their families and is often referred to as New Dhaka. This family oriented nature of the area can be seen through its various features including the many parks and green areas and a number of family friendly restaurants and shopping areas.

Uttara Campus, situated in the heart of Uttara, reflects many of these qualities in which we are constantly working towards for an up to date, modern system of education which not only caters for the demands of the professional world in which our children will grow into but also to support their social and moral development.

This can be seen by the approach of constant and ongoing training of teachers and staff to ensure the learning of our children is as relevant and efficient as possible.

Furthermore, the way in which we attempt to use the space we have to the benefit of the children’s development. So far this has seen us invest in a rooftop playground, start a Zen garden and open a small wildlife area, a dining area, a library and an activity room all of which build towards a learning environment in which our children can thrive.

Furthermore, it is commonly knowledge that sometimes children need that little bit extra in terms of support; be it with maths, English or support in developing social skills. However, not all families have the ability or resources to provide this. With this in mind we have set up a number of remedial sessions in which children who have been identified as struggling by their teacher, get the opportunity to work one on one with their teacher so that they get the targeted support they need. This is an extra service which is free of charge for those identified as needing it the most.

Message of the Vice Principal

Umme Habiba

Asst. Vice Principal

I am a great believer in the idea that if we are going to change the world for the better then we must focus on the quality education of our children – the future of our world – as an absolute priority. I also strongly believe that this education should start as young as possible and must be a combined effort of home and school life.

As is already widely known I am a big advocate of teacher and staff training. This is due to the fact that we are in a profession which is constantly developing and improving. One where there is no such thing as ‘the perfect teacher’. It is therefore our duty to insure a prosperous future for our children, Bangladesh and the world by constantly and relentlessly aiming to improve our knowledge and skills as educators. Thus aiming to insure the quality of education for our children is as advanced and as cutting edge as possible.

This year I intend to focus on what is commonly referred to as ‘the hidden curriculum’- in other words the learning of social norms and how to be a good citizen. Such skills and knowledge are not always explicitly outlined in the syllabus but rather learnt in addition to the syllabus. This includes how to survive and thrive in a society and a world that is in constant flux with unpredictable occurrences that can potentially change the face of the world as we know it now in an instance.

These are very turbulent and challenging times and the only way, I believe, to succeed in such times is through a deep and meaningful education. One that develops the whole child: intellectually, emotionally, physically and spiritually. This is a challenge that my team and I are willing and able to tackle head-on and I am excited about the opportunity to work with the rest of OIS and families to help insure a better future for all through the quality education of our children.

Message of the Lead Teacher

Sumona Akter

I have been working with Oxford International School since 2012 and I am totally dedicated and committed to my duties and responsibilities.

As there is no limit or end of knowledge and experience, I always seek out training to enhance my skills and abilities. I am also capable of adapting to new systems and process.

I believe all children deserve to have a safe educational environment to learn and grow in. Being a member of OIS it is one of my responsibilities to create such a healthy environment, where our children can explore their knowledge and ideas so to come out with a quality education.

I am dedicated to the social and emotional development of each child and make it my goal to make sure that each child receives the best care and love that they all deserve.
